This policy describes the site as it is built. It is a template. Review it before launch and again whenever you enable a new service. It is not legal advice.

What the site does by default

Pages are published as files in this project. There is no account system and no database of readers. The host that serves the site can keep ordinary server logs, such as IP address, browser, and the page requested. Those logs are controlled by the host, not by a form on this website.

Contact and newsletter

The contact form and the newsletter form are hidden until an https endpoint is configured. When they are on, the message or email address is forwarded to that endpoint. This site does not write those addresses into its own database. Read the provider’s policy before you turn a form on, and say on this page which provider you chose.

A hidden field is included to reduce automated submissions. Do not fill it in.

Analytics and advertising

Google Analytics 4 and Google AdSense are not loaded unless the matching environment variables are set. Even then, their scripts load only after a visitor chooses Allow on the consent bar. If you enable either service, name it here and link to its policy.

Declining consent keeps those scripts off in that browser. The choice is stored in local storage on the device.

Affiliate links

Some buying guides are prepared for Amazon Associates links. Until a real link is added, those pages do not send you to a retailer. When a link is present, Amazon may set its own cookies if you follow it. That is described on the Amazon disclosure page.

Use the address on the contact page once one is published. Until then, this site has no public mailbox.
